![]() There are two main reasons I use Simplenote. After some Dropbox detective work, I figured out which notes had been changed and restored them from Dropbox. It was more like "oh shit" since it would be difficult to know what notes, out of 1800, were changed. Well, NVAlt showed that Simplenote was duplicating notes and content. That means that while both the iOS and Web app were inoperable for Simplenote, good ol' NVAlt saved my notes. Luckily, I have NVAlt doing a Simplenote sync to Dropbox for me. ![]() Two hours later, the app was still trying to sync. Over an hour later, the app was still trying to sync. The update warned that all notes would need to be re-downloaded and that the process could take awhile. I liked what I read about the update, since it focused on performance rather than feature creep. Saturday, there was an update to the Simplenote iOS clients. I was assured that the problem will be fixed in the future and that there was no known maximum for the number of notes. The Simperium support team was very responsive and informed me that there had been an update and that I had an unusually large collection of notes. Worse, it crashed the browser every time I went to my Simplenote account. It wasn't a big deal but it was noticeable.įriday, things went very wrong with the web app and it became unusable. I noticed many months ago that the Simplenote web app was having some performance issues when I searched or created a new note. I have a very large library of text notes. These latest Simplenote updates have not been kind to me. As fate 1 would have it, Brett Terpstra just built a beautiful and complete list of text editors for iOS. But I've recently started to have problems. I've professed my fondness many times and I've been a staunch evangelist. It's still worthwhile having an alternative plan so I don't feel my time has been poorly invested. I really have to say, Simplenote support is pretty stellar and yet another reason I use the service. THANK YOU for reading and thanks to anyone willing to dumb this down a bit as i am obviously not a programmer.Update: Simperium have temporarily pulled Simplenote from the AppStore, pending a fix to an identified bug. I ask because i am thinking to print out all the notes from the MAC PRO, and then edit the data on the MAC AIR so that i now have one proofed set of notes.Īnything i need to do with the SYNC SETTINGS ? right now i have both computers set to READ NOTES FROM FOLDER "Notational Data" AND i have it set to "SYNCHRONIZE WITH SIMPLENOTE" via my email login and password for Simplenote. There appears to be a database in my "notational velocity" FOLDER on both the mac pro and the mac air where the notes for that individual device are now stored? totally independent of any other device at this point? Meaning i now have notes on one device that may not be on another (for all three devices) and also notes that have been EDITED on one that was not updated on another? The fact that SIMPLENOTE broke the sync means that all my devices (iphone, laptop and desktop) have been unsynced since the sync was broken?! The laptop would normally be the most "up to date" in the sense that i do the most editing on it but can anyone please explain to me what is going on? additionally i have been using it to sync to my iphone.īecause i jump around quite a bit i am afraid i am finding ALL my devices are out of sync. I have been relying on notational velocity as my business note taking app on my mac pro desktop and my mac air laptop. i have posted to nvUltra and nvAlt sites but these are rather developer based comments sections. this is totally unmanageable without some help. I am still sort of trying to figure out what is happening with my notes but i am /assuming/ that my computer notes have been syncing - but that nothing has been syncing to my phone and anything i may have added to the notes on my phone is basically in some database that is on a cloud somewhere and no longer synced with the computer database?ĭo you know what i mean? this is super confusing but there must be some copy of the database for my phone that basically somehow got replicated (like this is some kind of SIMPLENOTE database that is now floating out there somewhere) but is only linked to my PHONE? and the original NOTATIONAL VELOCITY database is still syncing to my COMPUTERS and where it has always been?Ĭan i get a little more high level help on this? ALL of my notes are unsynced and appear to be discrete pieces of data on all three - iphone, desktop and laptop - devices. Can i please follow up here and ask you what the methodology is for this exactly?Īpparently NValt has another piece of software (in development?) that may be in beta (which i don't want).īut i can download NValt to replace NOTATIONAL VELOCITY on my computers? and then there may be an app to sync this to my PHONE?
